As many of us were enjoying our weekend, not that far away tragedy struck into the lives of thousands of people. A reminder of what really matters in this world... And that is helping each other.
Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble for survivers after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit costal Ecuador. So far they have reported 272 people dead and 2,527 injured... But many are still missing and countless thousands of people have lost their homes.
The area most strongly hit was a province called Manabi. We have heard fromThings We Heart reader in Ecuador named Christina, she said these small towns around Manabi are in desperate need of help. These towns did't have much to begin with and now they have lost everything, their homes & many of their families. Christina shared these funds with us. Created by the people of Ecuador. We are happy to share them, these are places you can donate it you wish to help out in a fast way.
If you want to give your funds to the Red Cross, please make sure you give directly to the relief efforts of your choice.
Did you know that Japan was also hit by a massive earthquake exceeding 7.0 just hours apart from the quake that hit Ecuador?
Our thoughts are with both of these beautiful countries as they recover from the tragedy of these natural disasters.
Our hearts go out to everyone trying to help spread the word and we would like to thank you Cristina in beautiful Ecuador for reaching out to us and sharing your story.
