How to be a "Lady", or at least look like one.

When a girl is in her 20's a lot of silly notions cross her mind. Most of them probably having to do with not seeing herself as pretty enough, smart enough, skinny enough or just, not enough. So often in our 20's we make bad fashion choices to try and feel like we fit in.

This quote from one of our all time heros, fashion designer and the first "Star" stylist Edith Head, speaks so loudly to us now that we are in our 30's. Tight enough to show you're a woman, loose enough to show you're a lady. It is nice to be at an age where I have more confidence in myself and care less about what other people think.

I am happy to be done with the days of trying out looks that are just completely wrong for me.

But one thing that often happen's in your 30's is having kids, which throws a major wrench into your wardrobe situation. Your body goes through crazy changes and it is so easy to loose your sense of self. It's really hard to remember who you were before kids and align that with who you are now.

My usual day to day sartorial choices have pretty much been narrowed down to jeans or cut offs, old school sneakers and some sort of T-shirt and usually a flannel tied around my waist. On a wild day I may even throw on some colorful harem pants, I know. Crazy.

While I'm being completely honest, I do still love to bust out the "I'm working out later" look. This consists of me wearing my leggings, Nikes and an old vintage T... I think I have most of the neighborhood fooled that I am ALWAYS heading to or from the gym. If I am wrong, please don't tell me.

But lately I have been feeling like I want to class up my look. I am a grown up now (ugh) and I want to look like a lady sometimes.

These are a few of the girls that I think always look pulled together and lady like even when they are casual.

Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is always on point with her street style. Sleek and classy choices on top of the fact that she has legs for days and the face of, well, the face of Miranda Kerr. We love her style.

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth

Not a mom yet, we can't wait to see what Kate Bosworth does with her maternity style one day! She never makes the expected choice and always looks like a lady.

With her rainbow hued hair Nicole Richie manages to always look polished and pretty.

We love Nicole's grown up style. Gone are the days of boho headbands and florescent colors. These days its all about clean lines and we like it.

On a side note, both Nicole Richie and Miranda Kerr use the same stylist team the Bartoli Sisters. We are obsessed with the transformations. These girls are doing an amazing job.

Last but not least, our (former) Soviet Sweetie, Miraslava Duma, who taught us that a good blunt haircut can bring you to a whole new level of chic.

So in order to play at being a big girl, I am going to be adding items like these to my shopping list.

This lady like and sexy skirt from the insanely rad and talented Andrea Lieberman of ALC is at the very top of our list.

Switch out your cut off denim for a beautiful pair of tailored shorts. It is amazing how quickly this up grades your outfit.

ALC Oliver Pants

ALC Oliver Pants

I guess when it comes to being a lady ALC knows how to make it happen. These pants are everything perfect. fitted, black, clean lined and the suspenders add just the right amount of sass.

I am not ready to go full on lady and wear heels during the daytime in my normal life. I have kids to chase and errands to run, but I am a sucker for a pretty feminine flat. The pointed toe of these pretty Belle by Sigerson Morrison flats totally gives off Audrey Hepburn.

The easiest way to class up your act is to throw on a well cut blazer. Throw it over you jeans and Tshirt, over your sun dress, with your cute Alice & Olivia shorts. Easy peasy.

Zara Blazer

Polished, easy, classy. That's the goal. Wish me luck ladies!
