Dreaming Of A White Christmas.....

This year particularly we have been into cozy snuggling at home and warm nights by the fire.

It goes without saying that this year has been pretty tumultuous for many Americans and so the love and joy of the holiday season means more to us than ever before.

While in years past I have been a die-hard lover of color... I mean, I have a bright pink sofa and baby blue chairs in my living room... Lately I have been jonesing for the cool white tones of a winter cabin.

This picture Amber Lewis put up on her instagram yesterday nearly killed me!

So while I am not going to redo my whole living room... I am going to incorporate some of this serenity into my little family room den. Shayna at @ruffledsnob has some great inspiration photos of her lovely home.

Here are some other images that inspired us and some items from our Christmas wish list to bring the calm in this year of chaos.

Via Pintrest help us source it!

Give us all the eucalyptus and all the beautiful silver tip trees. Our beautiful white tree that has lasted our little family through more Christmas' then my youngest son has been alive... is on its last legs this year and my husband and I will be getting a new tree during some after-christmasy sales. So far I have my eye on this one.

Pop that beautiful silver tip into one of these amazing copper tree collars and voila... Perfection.

Layer around some gorgeous knitted throws and done.

Here is to being thankful that we have warm and cozy nests to feather, and to remembering those who don't at this time of year. Next week we will have up our traditional charity list so keep your eyes peeled. This year more than ever, giving feels good.

Light another one for me... Our favorite candles when we need to breathe deeper and relax

Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at 6.08.09 AM.png

It really does feel so odd writing about "stuff".   It really is a difficult decision if we should write or not considering the heart ache, heart break, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires and Trumps in the world.  We want to snuggle our families tight and hide under the covers for weeks.  But alas we must keep rising up.  We must shine a light on who and what needs us, give that our energy all the while keeping it going at home.  So when I sat down to write I realized all I wanted to do was turn the lights low, light a candle and get cuddly.  And that was it...we love our candles all year long.  They help us keep calm, feel grounded, relaxed, sexy, shmancy and warm so what more perfect time them to give you a glimpse of our favorites.

(top left) We just got this one from The Odells.  Yes you do see this shop/line A LOT on here and it's because this INSANELY talented duo (soul mates married with 3 amazing kids) puts out products we are bonkers over and their new signature scented candle is one of them!  Its a blend of blend of lavender, rose geranium, and patchouli sounds odd...but it is one of the loveliest scents we have ever smelled!  Not flowery and not musky... just perfect.  We love the vessel it comes in because we can reuse it for a mug, vase etc.

(top right) Le Labo is always a go to and not just because the scents are incredible and so saturated you barely have to light them but also because they are amazing gifts!  We should get a punch card here for the amount we have given as presents.  We are obsessed with the Santal 33 (their most popular and coveted scents) which is a musky and uber sexy blend.  It creates a mood for your whole home...just be careful...it could make you have babies.

(bottom left) Voluspa is a mainstay in our homes.  The prices are great (for high quality candles) and the scents are so so pretty and not over powering.   Their Maison Noir line is a chic as it is lovely. The Tuberose is absolutely beautiful.  After we burn these babies we love to put flowers in the used jars!

(bottom right) Norden candles are as clean, earthy, relaxing and modern as the vessel they come in.  The scents relax and transport you instantly to somewhere else.  They are candles but the scent is nothing like a traditional candle.  It is gentle and calm but not perfume or over powering and we love that you can reuse the handmade container after.

If you walk around our houses you may notice something...animals are a huge part of our decor style.  Now yes, we are both known to rescue, foster and be animal lovers, but this post is not an ode to our furry family members but one about the faux kind.

There is something so whimsical and playful about using (FAUX) animals to decorate.  (PS THIS IS NOT ADVOCATING USING ANYTHING REAL..anything that was a thriving, living, loving part of our world)  Walk into any of our rooms and you will see a splash of this whimsy from our kids rooms to our living rooms.  And our favorite kind of splash are heads and busts!

What (patio) dreams are made of...

Dreams do come true....Lifestyle LA

We know...we know...lucky us... we get to live in sunny SoCal!  But one of coolest parts of living in one of the hottest places in the US is we get to basically live outdoors all year.  And one of the fun parts of thats getting to dream about redoing our patios.  This is something we do all day everyday.  Constantly seeing furniture, swinging benches, daybeds etc and daydreaming if what we would love to have in our lives.

While staring out the kitchen door I realized...why daydream?  No need to do a full crazy and expensive overhaul...start small, piece by piece and guess what?  I did and it made a huge difference!

THIS IS NOT OUR PATIO!  But its so dreamy and inspirational- One Kings Lane

We stared at a few inspirational photos...ie...all of the ones you see in this post.  And figured out what we needed to make a small but impactful change and came up with a short list.

The warmth and simplicity of this space screams "Come drink a cocktail while staring at the sunset with me"

The warmth and simplicity of this space screams "Come drink a cocktail while staring at the sunset with me"

After much research (going on Pinterest for hours that led to Ebay vintage t-shirt and dress hunting) Here is what we found out makes the biggest impact for the smallest amount of dough.

  1. Twinkle lights or Bistro lights-  Outdoor string lights warm up any space and help it look finished.   They are really inexpensive, you can get them anywhere and some are solar powered if you dont have an outlet!
  2. An outdoor rug- Just like a rug inside, an outdoor version grounds and brings the whole space together and adds the perfect welcoming pop of color
  3. Decorative pieces-  Pretty vases, trays etc.  We love hanging bells at different heights for color, depth and interest. Its a nice finishing touch.
  4. A great coffee table-  After staring at mine, the one that matched our couch and chairs, I realized I needed a change.  Something cool and interesting so I don't have to replace the couch and chairs (which is not cost effective)
  5. Great chairs OR a great love seat-  Wood and fabric are so inviting so look for pieces with that combo.

Here are a few pieces we love right now...

This space from the New Darlings was really easy for them to achieve.   New rugs, side tables, simple couch, plants and a hanging chair...voila!

Think Pink

This time of year we can't help but obsess over everything pink, it may be the peonies that decorate every inch of our home thanks to Trader Joe's or it may be the long peachy pink sunsets we love. Whatever the cause, summer more than ever we can't get our hands on enough pink.

Basically us....

Basically us....

One of the easiest and least overwhelming ways to bring a ton of pink into your life is at your table.  Today we have rounded up a few of our favorite blush serving pieces.

Lux/Eros

Lux/Eros

Oh, all the gorgeous blush Lux/Eros ceramic plates and pitchers we have been lusting after for so long. We love the colors and the style in each of these hand-made pieces by the talented Desanka Fasiska. We honestly can not get enough.

Lux/Eros

Lux/Eros

To compliment these beautiful ceramic pieces you will need the perfect glassware and the blush stems from Anthropologie are just right. With just a subtle hint of pink and a vintage shape, the gold rim brings them to a whole new level. We especially love the vintage champagne goblets.

Serve up your water in these amazing star dust glasses for the perfect pairing.

We may or may not admit to having an obsession with serving bowls and platters.... We may or may not be able to fit them all in our kitchens... But how can you say no to the perfect piece? Like this pink beauty.  You will never regret the perfect platter.

We will just be over here dreaming of everything pink, blush, rose and gorgeous if you need us, hopefully sitting on this chaise from our favorite furniture designers Only Love Is Real.

Paper their life- Our top pics for kids wallpaper (WE WANT FOR OURSELVES)

Seriously!?  via: pinterest

Seriously!?  via: pinterest

Honestly nothing has made us happier when it comes to interiors than the return of WALLPAPER!  It's back and we are obsessed and have been for a few years now (remember our past posts?)...it just keeps getting better!  If we could, every room would have at least one wall covered in gorgeous patterns.  Nothing sets the tone of a room quite like wallpaper.  It tells it's own story and gives a little insight into who the owner of the room is.

Fireworks wallpaper we have LOVED forever.  So whimsical and fun!

Fireworks wallpaper we have LOVED forever.  So whimsical and fun!

It can be dramatic, serene, silly, sexy, moody, fun and happy.  Wallpaper is a one stop decor shop. No decorating required!  Now if only it weren't SO pricy!  SO for the sake of redoing our kids rooms in our imaginations today let's pretend its affordable to buy and hang.  Here are our top wallpaper picks to make your kids rooms come to life

Oh Chasing Paper!  We can get lost on your site for hours...literally hours.  Daydreaming about what paper we could use where.  And this "Wild Thing" by Sarah Watson we would be happy to have anywhere in our home...especially our kids rooms!

Ok, so it is not just that this Amber Interiors room is perfection...it is that arrow wallpaper by Cavern Home is perfect and makes the room even better!   We have drooled over these cool arrows for a while now and are ready to put them in the kids bathroom or on one of their walls for a good accent..problem is how do we choose just one??

Dear Caitlyn McGauley, we are officially obsessed with your work and these 2 wallpapers sealed that deal!  This leopard paper is begging to go somewhere in our kids rooms.  If only we could do 3 walls with your perfect dots and one accent with the black leopard (then save a roll or 7 for our bedroom wall) all would be great!  Perfection...just perfection.

Loving the moderness (is that a word) of these hand drawn clouds from Ferm living that are almost like lotus cloud shaped.  They are sweet yet sharp and would look lovely in a nursery or on a ceiling in the kids room.

Ok seriously?!  This INSANE Cheetah Vision paper from Illustrator Aimee Wilder comes in SO many colors we can not breathe.  How crazy is it!?!  Would love to put behind a great simple built in bookshelf or in a reading nook.  Its so fun, modern and whimsical all in one.

You probably noticed that the safari/animal theme is heavy in our choices.  That is not only because it is for a kids room, because we would DIE for any of those, but its a really classic yet modern theme that lasts forever and can easily be morphed into a different vibe depending on the decor.   You may have also noticed only one cutesy one (clouds) but even that one has a modern sophistication.  This is simply because kids get tired of things so quickly and grow up so fast.  I had at least 3 different wallpapers when I was young and looking back they were all awful! Had my wonderful parents had more choices maybe I wouldn't have wanted Floral after my Holly Hobby one after my Strawberry Shortcake decision.

LOVE the idea of having a focal wall mural like the one in Emily Henderson's old nursery.

LOVE the idea of having a focal wall mural like the one in Emily Henderson's old nursery.

That said, wallpaper is SO PRICEY!!!!!!  So we really love the new peel and stick ones to help rule out the professional hanging expenses.  What ever you choose remember to have fun! Make it timeless and chic and you can't go wrong.

Which is your fave?  Do you love wallpaper as much as we do??

Green with envy. The most gorgeous green kitchens of 2017 (so far)

Our love with green kitchens began long before Pantone named "greenery" the color of the year.  But now our love has grown to an unhealthy level.  We are absolutely obsessed.

To say green is the new black is just about right.  But it's not any green...it's an earthy green, or a  deep emerald green.  A green that is bold yet calming, mixing with wood and marble like no bodies business.

Prepare to be inspired....

Hunted Interior created her own green to paint her cabinets and it's perfection.

Hunted Interior created her own green to paint her cabinets and it's perfection.

The first kitchen below is one Mieke and I would pass back and forth years ago after seeing in Domino Magazine.  That kelly green mixed with marble and gorgeous light is everything happy.  Green can be traditional, modern, classic and fun.  Its the perfect color for a kitchen.

Right?? Just wait for the best of the best.  It will make you want to tear out your everything just to have a cup of coffee there.... Dear Amber Interiors...Marry Us ...and then renovate our homes.  Thanks!  Here is her newest project and it is as dreamy as they come....

When Sarah Sherman Samuel does something we want to too.  From owning an A frame cabin in Palm Springs to wallpapering a powder room in pink water color paper, she's got our number.  So when she painted her kitchen cabinets a deep green we were on board and drooling.

Here are two more lovely greens to get your brain going.  The classic traditional twist on these two kitchens is anything but zany or dated.

Green is definitely a trend but its a gorgeous one.  Would you do green in your kitchen?

Fringed Benefits

Seriously?!?!?   Metal Fringe in hair!!!

Seriously?!?!?   Metal Fringe in hair!!!

Something weird has happened lately to this ultimate tomboy.  A mysterious wave of ultimate feminine has crept in and I kinda like it in the form of fringe decor.  I remember the first time I saw a real person wear fringe, it was Mieke, she was wearing a fringe mini skirt and it was just so cute.  But that's her...just beyond all that is cute.  So I tucked that secret love away.  Then it hit me in the face like a chocolate pie.   Last year my friend gave me a burnt orange velvet pillow with long fringe draping from one side and I was in...deep.

Fringe isn't just for clothes anymore...it can transform your home from safe to magical.

Mieke and I fell in love this this light (I am sure you saw it floating around Insta or Pinterest) last year and it made our obsession even worse!   It was designed in the 1960's by Swedish designer,  Hans Agne-Jakobsson and it is single handedly responsible for the gorgeous trend we are seeing now.

Here are our favorite ways to bring a little fringe into your home...

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

  1.  We found this incredible DIY chandelier and it's beyond!
  2. This rose gold fringe mirror now lives in our home..oh and it's only $129!

  4. How sweet is this PB Teen fringe hassle banner?
  5. Thanks Nake B for Target...this cute fringe stool is only $20 now!
  6. Oh Juju Just...we have been obsessed with you on Insta forever now and we still are

Fringe doesn't have to be silly or overly girly...it can be chic, timeless and sexy....

There is a trend going on in interior design that is 80's meets boho meets beach and it's deliciously dreamy.  Neutrals.  In the world today we can all use a little calm where we live.

Now this is not beige...this is layers of creamy yumminess.  Tans, greys, whites, taupes all blending to make music to your eyes.

This yummy cozy trend can be done in any room to perfection...

Pantone...we heart you!

Pantone...we heart you!

What is it about the color blush that instantly relaxes our minds making us drift away.  It's no coincidence that Pantone announced that one of this years colors would be Rose Quartz which is another version of the color Blush.  Its peaceful whisper of pink is anything but what we know as pink.  Blush is a new neutral...happily and peacefully complimenting any color it sits next too.  Like a peaceful warrior.

Blush Paint Colors- Pinterest

Seeing how much we love all things Rosé, it should come as no surprise that Blush is our new favorite friend in decor.  We want to be surrounded by this soft pale pink, enveloped in its sweet whisper.  So when we walked into our friends home and stumbled upon her blush colored chairs we gasped and quickly became obsessed.

Dark And Dreamy

There is nothing more dramatic and delightfully surprising then a dark and dreamy black room.

We have talked about painting your walls black and the exterior of your house black... Lately we have become obsessed with another way to darken your walls. Today, we are rounding up our favorite dark and moody wall papers.

1. Ashley Woodson Bailey: The Hunt  2. Abnormals Anonymous 3. Amber Interiors: Mali

4. Ellie Ashman Designs 5. Black Crow Studios: Floral 6. Ellie Ashman Designs: XXL

All these dark and moody papers will make a beautiful statement in your home. We love the huge oversized flowers from both Ellie Cashman Designs and Black Crow Studios.

Don't be afraid to go bold in your home... especially in a small space like a powder room or a hallway! It's a choice that always pays off in the end.

Mrs Mighetto-  The reason for our rabid obsession with House Beds

When we say "newest" obsession we actually mean a two year old obsession we can not get out of our heads.  We have been drooling and pinning these stunning kids beds for years now and the obsession is just getting worse since my little one is soon to be "big kid" bed bound.

Mini Maximus

Mini Maximus

For some reason we could never post about these beds either out of sheer envy of seeing how cute they looked in other kids homes or because they are just slightly out of reach for those of us in the US and the aching of not being able to have one was too much to deal with (dramatic but kinda true-ish a little)

Prepare to be inspired!  We are searching for ones that suit a double or queen mattress but until then....

From a toddler into a tween: A space of their own.

With so many articles and so much advice on how to decorate your little ones nursery, it seems older children's rooms are a forgotten wasteland.  Babies are only babies for such a short time and then all of a sudden you have a loud rambunctious mess maker who needs a cool and (semi) private place to hang out.

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

How do you transition a room from little kid A.K.A "Babyish"  into something your 10 or 12 year old will think is cool well into their high school years.

We have some great tips for you to score major points with your tween... I mean they may even let you hang out in there a little.

Here is how we did it. When my 10 year old and soon-to-be-8-year old joined up to share a room this is what happened. With the help of friend and interior decorator Megan Tagliaferri (Megan came up with the amazing paint pattern on that main wall!) the boys put together a list of things they loved.

This list included:

1. Favorite Colors

2. Favorite Music

3. Favorite Hobbies

Believe it or not, everything in the boys room was pulled from either what was in their rooms before or from other places in the family home or what needed to be purchased was bought at vintage stores.

The music posters were already ours, the Pendleton blankets were from the old beds in their toddler bedrooms, The colorful Caleb Siemon vase was a wedding present from our dear friend,  the furniture was repurposed.

It was really just the paint and accessory styling that made the huge change from little kids room into the cool hang out they have now.

You don't have to spend a lot of money, just don't be afraid to pilfer other areas of your home for big kid friendly grown up art & accessories.

For example, you may have to give up your favorite framed band posters and your Dylan McKay doll.

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Celebrate who your kiddo is and what they love, give them a place to express it. It's amazing how many passions you and your kids can share as they get older.

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

For example the Dumont boys love reading and music, so we highlighted both their books and instruments as a major part of the room.

You also have to know what to keep and that can be tricky... As  decor editing always is.

Changing the lighting wasn't in the budget for this room refresh, so we kept the lights from the nursery . This little bird pendant used to hang right over the crib, but now acts like a cool night light the boys love.

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Giving the boys a space of their own worked out so well for us, they now will actually sit in their room and listen to music (we loaded up an old iPod and let them have at it and it is so fun to hear what they pick to play... Lots of The Cure and Black Sabbath happening in there)

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Our family is big on art and all of our boys have somehow inherited the art gene, so we try to fill their room with art that we all love. Staying away from kid-centric prints and instead using the work of some of our favorite artists like Mark Rebennack & Neckface.

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

We want to make sure that we give a nod to the fact that they are still kids, we haven't lost them to the dark side of teenage angst yet, so we remind them to have fun and keep it light while nurturing their artistic side by having a little special effects makeup station in their bathroom.

They get pretty into this and trust me when I say... Ewwwww.

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Photo: Ashley Beliveau for Things We Heart

Let your kids space grow with them, don't be afraid to change things up and our biggest piece of advice for everyone out shopping for a new baby... Think ahead on the big purchases (Dressers, beds, desks, lighting fixtures etc.) ... keep them simple and clean lined enough that they can be styled for any age.

Designer Studs...

We almost titled it..."We got our designs on these guys" but then realized it doesn't do their hunkiness any justice.

As you probably know already, we are absolutely obsessed with interior design.  We love every bit of it, moving rooms around, pinning endlessly about our dream rooms and houses and even begging our baby daddies to let us paint rooms pure black.  But what you may not know is our secret love affairs with 3 gorgeous men in the ID field.  And when we say love...we mean the creepy stalker kind (ok not THAT kind but the giddy 16 year old girly kind).

Fan pop

Fan pop

These 3 men not only have changed the face of design but their faces look like they were designed by angels (see what we did there?).  We didn't pick them on looks of course but it definitely looks like we did.  Maybe all their dreamy blue eyes hypnotized us.

Oh Orlando...how we stalk you so.

Oh Orlando...how we stalk you so.

1.  Orlando Soria-  He is #1 on our list for a few reasons.  (PS...Orlando?  We have a rose chilling for you..we can talk about Park Studio lights and eat fries...hello?...Orlando?!)

  1. He's dreamy.  Like a modern hunk in a movie who brings you french press coffee after waking up with the kids leading you down to the clean kitchen where he scraped the spaghetti off the walls and then pours you a crisp rose and drops the kids off at school only to return home to give you a massage and gift certificate to Shopbop.
  2. His Instagram is basically our spirit animal.  His long amazing comments (see #1 above why we are a match made in heaven) filled with puns, random movie references, and decor inducing envy.
  3. His designs are fresh, bright, happy and game changers with out being too trendy.
  4. His Hommemaker blog is perfection. Geared towards that style lovin man in your life
  5. He lives near us and when we saw him walking the resevoir close by with his hunk of a boyfriend we lost our voice, started sweating and couldn't say hi.  Yes that's how much we love him.
  6. His houses are our dreams from his Tom Dixon lighting to his Brizo faucets we feel like he designed them for us.  I mean he did right...right?!?
  7. He is the CD at Homepolish...our favorite e-decor site
  8. He is terrifyingly crazy about having all white dishes
Oh Nate you are so...great!

Oh Nate you are so...great!

2. Nate Berkus- What more can we say then...Target!

  1. His line at Target gets us into a frenzy every season and we scoop it up faster than a sugar addict digging into the new Ben & Jerry's vegan ice creams
  2. His designs are classic, clean and a perfect balance of masculine and feminine.
  3. He loves Oprah and she loves him back.  (ok thats not a reason but it helps)
  4. His empire spans the world of design with books, his own lines at 5 stores, designing homes around the world...
  5. He has the most gorgeous baby girl named Poppy with fellow designer, Jeremiah Brent...which brings us to our next dreamy designer dude....

3. Jeremiah Brent- It was love at first sight.

  1. You may remember him as Rachel Zoe's assistant.  We first met him there (in our dreams we met him but saw him while religiously watching the show) and he was sweet cute and talented.
  2. He designed Rachel Zoe's family home in BH and it was stunning!  Classic, contemporary yet totally approachable.
  3. His use of white in his designs is breath taking and envy producing (funny that we only chose black photos above...)
  4. His project with husband, Nate Berkus designing Rita Hazan's home is spectacular
  5. His smile makes us giggle
  6. See #5 above in the Nate Berkus section

Dig into the gorgeous digs these men did and dream away... the jealousy (the good kind) is  cute look.

For many years in Scandinavian countries smaller lake and beach cottages have been painted black to trap warmth during long winter months. This functional choice of exterior color is also incredibly beautiful.

Many American's are now embracing the black exterior paint and the payoff is big.

Another beautiful option if sky is the limit and money is no object... Does that really happen?

Is to cover your home in charred cedar siding, known as Shou Sugi Ban. This ancient Japanese method of treating wood is pretty fascinating.

"The process involves charring the wood, cooling it, cleaning it, and finishing it with a natural oil. Although time consuming, the final product is not only gorgeous, with its rich, silvery finish; the charred wood also resists fire, rot, insects, and can last up to 80 years."

Thanksgiving table

Thanksgiving has always been our favorite holiday for many reasons, it's not a day about gifts or buying anything. Thanksgiving is truly about spending time with the people you love and celebrating how thankful you are for each other.

We both love to have our whole families over to our houses especially now that we have children. It makes it so much easier to have all the grandparents and aunts & uncles in one place around your kids.

Aside from the menu, which we will get into later in the week, our favorite thing to do is make a beautiful table scape. We have been planning ours in our heads for weeks now.

This photo shoot from Found Rentals a vintage rentals source in California is beyond our wildest dream. (If you are having a wedding or any event and you need some amazing one of a kind rentals check them out, we are drooling over everything they do.)

Taking a page from this inspiration we are going heavy on the copper and brass at the table this year.

Succulents are a natural compliment for the warm tones of brass and copper and we love them potted individually in small eclectic containers.

We also love mixing in vintage and non-vintage small brass and copper figurines along the table.

We have had our gold toned flatware for a little over a year and a half now and it has held up pretty nicely. We couldn't recommend it more for your table settings and your  honestly your life. Right now you can get a beautiful rose gold set at Crate & Barrel

For dramatic floral centerpieces or entryway pieces we would splurge and go to one of our favorite local florists.

For our LA peeps, we wouldn't recommend anyone but our fellow Hey Mama member Kelsey Harper at Flowergirl Los Angeles. Not only is she insanely talented at what she does she is also one of the good people. A sweet, real, loving mama we all should support. Famous for her flower crowns and loose casual arrangements we love FGLA's work.

For our South Side readers, we can't get enough of Main Street, Seal Beach's gem Petals & Pop. The floral artists here create loose, romantic and dreamy arrangements. They also make fantastic wreaths. As an added bonus the girls that all work in the shop are super sweet and it always feels good to go in.

As always, the most important thing at your table will be the love that you and your tribe share. Remember to live in this amazing feeling of gratefulness everyday. Tell the people you love hoe thankful you are for them.

Hang around a while...still OBSESSED with hanging chairs!

Pinterest

Pinterest

2 years and counting....and our obsession with rattan hanging chairs isn't going anywhere.  If anything it's getting worse.  We pin and pine over these delicate yet incredibly designed chairs.   These throw back chairs from the 60's & 70's were once called "Hanging egg chairs" are now just called heaven.   They can make the corner of any room perfect, make a small room seem more airy or make a stark room seem warm and inviting.  In other words...they can do it all.

We have no one to blame except for Oh Happy Day and here insane master bedroom makeover that you may have seen in our post where we try not paint all of our rooms black.

Oh Happy Day...you are FOR SURE our spirit animal.   Sorry we stalk you.  Thanks though for the daily inspo and obsessions..and and your dreamy party shop.

Since then we can not stop thinking of how to convince our baby daddies to let us hang one or 10 of these inside and outside our houses.  I mean,  our office totally needs one...and so do the girls rooms right next to the tee pee...and then what about in the living room to make it more airy...oh and how amazing would one be in the bedroom to stare out the window while reading our favorite books?  (As if we had time for that...but we can dream!)

Dreaming of dreaming to have this spectacular PS home by House in the Hills...but its for rent so we can pretend!  What do you say Jinx?  Girl get away?

Casa O'dell. The house dreams are made of...and from

Laura's studio/A guest area with an explosion of color from textiles she created including the rug!  Jealousy is not a cute look on us but we are wearing it right now.

Have you ever walked into your friends home and almost cried, curl up in a ball of warmth and crawl slowly across every surface just to get a taste of the love and inspiration that went into it?  Oh no?  Then you should try walking through the doors of Casa O'dell in Silverlake, CA.

Thank goodness someone with a great eye at Domino Magazine (that was a joke...that magazine is our BIBLE and everyone there is a genius) saw what we saw.  They took a tour and we (lovingly) stole the photos so we could take you on the same tour!

Oh hello cute kitchen with black soapstone counters.  The punch of their kelly green wallpaper in the eating nook is to die for.

The first time we stepped foot into their warm, loving, eclectically chic, texture rich home we had to take a deep breath before heading into every room.  Each different and unique but stamped with a similar thread.  Laura, is a textile designer and even if you didn't know what that was, you would after being in their home.  She and Jason created every inch of wallpaper that hang in almost every room that they personally designed.  Each one different yet totally them.

A warm, inviting, eclectic and playful living room.

She is "constantly inspired by color and prints, as if you haven't noticed that already.  I love creating a tonal neutral palate and then splicing in bold colorful prints to balance it out.  I'm a big fan though of color balance"

It figures a house this gorgeous would be owned by one of the most gorgeously cute couples ever.  And did we mention they design an amazing line of clothing called The Odells?  Yup we were blessed with a gift of a few pieces and live in them!  They are as comfortable as they are cute.

We were privileged to get a super sneak peek at Spring '16.  Here are our must haves!

Laura's fabrics and textiles are inspired by their own backyard of Silverlake from the floors of their neighborhood coffee shop and exotic lands like India with their yarn dyed Ikats and indigo shades.  (pictured below- Intelligentsia print dress and Reservoir top and pants)

If you want to snatch up a piece from their clothing collection The O'dells head to these lucky stores.

And if you are DYING for that wallpaper go here!

Dreaming of having a dreamier Casa?  Use your dreams, head to a flea market, thrift store or your local vintage store and start there!

If you have been following Things We Heart for a while now, you know how much we love feathering our nests. We spend many hours drooling together over beautiful interior spaces. Sending each other texts and emails of rooms and decor with the excitement of little boys sharing their first look at dad's Playboy. We can't help it, rooms like this kitchen done by Flo Design Studios just make us giddy.

Today we are rounding up a few of the items we are lusting after the most right now.

Like this wallpaper from Black Crow Studios. We fell in love with Black Crow's amazing wall paper on Pinterest a few years ago and when it came time to hang some paper in our homes, we tracked them down... All the way in our own back yard! It turns out the company we were dreaming of was literally in our home town right here in Southern California. In the words of Gabby Hoffman in Sleepless in Seattle.. "We were M.F.E.O... Made. For. Each. Other.".

Bold and beautiful with super rich color, we love the abstract flowing water colors of Black Crows original papers. We are also in love with the new Floral collection. Oh to have somewhere to put this in our houses! I wonder how my husband would feel about the whole garage done over in this paper.... It might look pretty cool with the surfboards and bikes piled in front of it. These are no shy little florals these big and bold designs could make any room insanely interesting.

We have also been crushing for a long time on interior designer Amber over at Amber Interiors. Her spaces always have a really great sense of calm.

Obsessed with the cactus in the white pot... This repeated theme in Amber Interiors rooms has worked its way into our own homes and we are in love with the clean bold lines the simple lone shape makes.

Speaking of obsessed, we are stalking the rugs of Lulu & Georgia. Why wouldn't we?

Bright, colorful, fluffy in many cases the rug selection on this interiors website is ginormous! We haven't even been able to browse every page yet they have so many to choose from.

Last but not least, our ultimate home decor crush of the moment and probably For-Like-Ever is Orlando Soria creative director at Homepolish founder of Homemaker.com and most entertaining person on Instagram. Seriously our love was sealed when we read just a few of his long, rambling comments... And when I say long and rambling I mean that in a way that speaks directly to our souls... Within one Instagram post we laughed, we cried, we felt like we were old friends... And when I say old friends I mean that in a completely freaky stalker way. We feel like we know his mom, his boyfriend and his choices in kitchen hardware as well as we know each other. Now that is the power of social media. Orlando, call us, lets go get rosè and french fries.

Have fun feathering your nest

Child-ish. Art for your kids walls

Sage Vaughn we LOVE you!

Sage Vaughn we LOVE you!

Ever wonder..."Why is everything for a kids wall so....childish?  So dated?"  "I wish I could make my kids walls cooler, with out getting hives looking through Pinterest or with out spending a ton of money and time"

If you follow TWH, you know that we love all things decor, all things interior and all things pretty and we absolutely believe a kids room should be no exception.   We love to admire each others handy work in our homes, especially when it comes to the kids rooms and their walls.  We don't think just because they are little they should have Elmo and Elsa covered walls.

This is not ok.  Image via- Google, ugly kids rooms

Yep, kids love kid things!  They love Mine Craft, Frozen, football and Big Bird but that does not mean their rooms have to look like a walking advertisement.  Besides, tomorrow they will be obsessed with something else so save your money on the Disney decor.   We think kids absolutely love art and beauty.   And seeing fun art on their walls just opens their horizons on what art actually is.   Now let's get this straight...we are NOT talking about having a Mona Lisa on their walls (unless they want that of course)  We are talking totally kid/nursery appropriate pictures that also happens to look cool.

Dear Elisa Sassi, no matter how many pieces of yours we collect we never get sick of your sweet yet totally twisted and sassy (pun totally intended) creations.

Cool posters are a great way to add personality to a room with out spending a lot.   Mini and Maximus prints are incredible for boys and girls (and parents too).  How incredible is this "Rock" poster.  Throw on an Aaron Brothers frame and voila...art.

Mini and Maximus posters are all things punk, cool and wild child wrapped into one.

Speaking of posters as art, give them a little lessons about movies that changed your life with a vintage movie poster.   Most posters are reprints so if you are over scouring Ebay and paying crazy prices head to poster site to find the perfect one.

One of the most important movies of our lives.  Goonies.

One of the most important movies of our lives.  Goonies.

We fell over when we saw Larry Ketang's creations.  His versions of movie posters is stunning!  If a traditional movie poster for your kids room isn't quite how you see things then look at this.

Larry Ketang's cult movie posters are incredible.

Give them a little reminder every morning they wake up with this cute banner.  When you kiss them to say goodnight it is also a perfect reminder for you.

We love all things arrows.  Tattoos, art, prints, cards, decor...so it's no surprise we teared up a little when we saw this print from The Poster Club.  TPC is an incredible resource for beautiful prints for the whole house and their kids section is everything but childish.

Remind them that when life pulls you back, its just so you can shoot forward and fast like an arrow.  The Poster Club Kids

Every nursery needs to have an animal picture on the wall.  And the great ones can hang for years.  We absolutely love all of our Sharon Montrose photos but when we came across artist, Nikki McCauley's animal paintings we knew these were perfection.   Nothing childish about these but the sweet innocence and gorgeous images of her work can hang anywhere in your home.

Nikki McCauley's sweet yet provocative artwork can hang for a lifetime in your kids room.

Another great place to find art for your kids walls is Land Of Nod.  They are right in line with our ideas that a kids room doesn't have to be childish.  Just fun, festive, and provoke creativity.

Stay tuned to TWH for a few of our favorite artists we found going down the rabbit hole.  One can be found here....
