For most of our lives we have had an obsession with pink locked ladies... Frenchie, Strawberry Shortcake, Jem & The Holograms....
Andy from Pretty in Pink... Ok, so she is actually a red head, but everything about her is pink.
I think we have told you before how we share a brain and it is kind of creepy... Well the other day i was dreaming of and missing my pink hair from a year or so back... when I received a goodie bag from Erin with a bottle of pink Manic Panic. It's like she could read my mind. Well of course I had to use it right away.... Because what else is a girl to do?
I explained on Things We Heart before that I have long had a problem with my addiction to changing my hair... I just can't seem to sit still with one look... I have publicly apprized to my hair dressers... So Jorge Serrano, I am sorry to do this after you spent 5 hours making me blonde a few weeks ago, but here it is! I love you. I also apologize to my husband Tom but this is what happens when you go talk to Tony on the phone after the kids are asleep instead of watching Mr. Robot with me!
Now, here is the fun part... As you can see the color Erin got me was not the pastel, peachy pinkish, peony color she and I both love. But that was not a problem because I just cut the brighter color with tons of conditioner. You can mix 3 parts conditioner & 1 part color to get a softer shade then the one in the bottle.
So after I mixed the color with conditioner... I still think it was a little bright. I only left it on as long as the application took and then I washed it right out.... As you can see I also didn't wear gloves which is not a good idea.
So after the first was it was pretty pink! What I like about the "Sloppy" application is that I don't get every strand of hair covered in color. So the end result is sort of a Neapolitan Ice Cream vibe. Which I love.
Since this was a little too bright for me... I put a bunch of deep conditioner in my hair and slept in it. Then I washed it again in the morning. Washing your hair too much will make it super dry. So if you wash your hair twice or three times in 2 days give it a good 3 or 4 days to build back up it's natural oils.
Now I have the perfect color for me! And in just a few washes it will be gone. Temporary color is so much fun and is a great way to change up your look if you get bored easily. If you haven't played with hair color before you should totally try it! Just remember, it's only hair and you can always fix it.
Have fun! I promise you if you're a mom your kids are going to love it! This morning my sons didn't even bat a lash when they woke up and saw mommy with pink hair.
